Mandela The Modern Day Savior

Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela is viewed  as a hero because he liberated his country from a life of segregation because segregation also meant that the non-white population of south Africa would be discriminated against and hindered by the white people in power.

Nelson fought for his change in the form of activism, leading the anti-aparthied movement and serving 27 years for doing so.

After negotiations to end apartheid and move to a democratic government, he was recognized with an international recognition and a Nobel piece prize.

This ended the segregation a led to the betterment for the people of South Africa.

He lived in Qunu for a majority of his life.

Nelson was born on July 18th 1918.

year 11 science reflection (term 2)

Salutations saints and sinners

This term, I have had the pleasure of revisiting motions and have been introduced to few terms like “pressure”.

I find the basics an absolute breeze to go through, maybe a nudge is needed for me to proceed with different forms of calculating the answers for differently formed questions such as calculating distance with a graph.

Otherwise I feel that I am progressing at a good pace with the rest of the class and am confident with my problem solving abilities.

I haven’t learned much that I didn’t know but I did learn about newtons 3 laws.

The first being that if an object isn’t tampered with, then it maintains its motion or motionless state.

The second being that the acceleration of an object depends on the overall net force and the mass of the object.

the third law states that there is always a reaction to your actions, meaning that whatever motion you take, there is always something equal or opposite to it.

Thats pretty much all I have to say.

Looking forward to the rest of the term.

This is your friend Raymond, signing off.

Year 11 science spheres

Kia ora, over the period of time that i’ve taken in my class, I have learned much about the spheres and how each one can affect each other and be affected by outside forces.

Much of what I’ve learned is how our human activity has affected each individual sphere in unique ways that in the end affect how our world works as a whole, some of these symptoms being more notable than others.

Each sphere carries out an idiosyncrastic duty that maintains the health of our earth.

The Biosphere is the most notable sphere in my opinion as the Biosphere harbours all living things on earth, giving it far more distinctive features than any other planet in our solar system.

The Geosphere is of course an extremely important one as the Geosphere assists in life processes such as the soil that creates life and maintains ecological balance, and the most interesting thing being that the very foundation of the earth is made up by all of the sedimentaries in the Geosphere.

The Hydrosphere is of course all forms of water on earth.

Every crack and crevice has once been touched by the various liquids that fluctuate in and around the earth.

Last but not least, the Atmosphere.

The atmosphere is the earth’s very own solar shield and makes up the layers above the ground of the earth that filters out most horrible space interference.

Not only that but the various gasses in the atmosphere help to maintain almost all life on earth.

All of these elements come together in unique and diverse ways that make our planet beautiful and ever changing in nature.

Though because of our human activities such as deforestation, mining, farming and so on, a lot of problems have come to occur over the years.

Problems like eutrophication, changing weather patterns, ocean acidification and so many more have come to be, due to some of the conditions that we have set, because of our evolution of technology and ideologies.

An example of these problems from our activities would be acid rain.

Some industries use sulfur which when burned becomes sulfer dioxide or SO2 which goes up into the atmosphere to take in more oxygen and become sulfur trioxide or SO3.

Once the sulfur trioxide reaches a cloud, it fuses with the water (H2O) in the cloud to become sulfuric acid (H2SO4).

This is how acid rain comes to be and is one of many different ways that human activity can affect the earth systems.

The classes for this science have actually been very interesting and informative of all things that go on around us while we try to keep to ourselves.

I found that some of these terms related to this science are things that I already knew but didn’t know what they meant.

I have learned a lot over the time I have spent in this class and truly believe that I have a greater understanding of us as a species.

Well hello my educated fellow – year 11 jumpstart

Hello, two of my academic goals would be to simply get through NCEA level 1 and complete each course on at least Merit or Excellence. my personal goal is to improve my communication skills to relate more with others.

According to the NZQA site, I need 80 credits in order to pass level one including 60 credits at any level and 20 credit that are numeracy and literacy.  I need 10 Literacy and 10 Numeracy credits.  I am going to learn more about endorsements and set goals later in the year.

In my STEM class, we’ve been designing rovers and making cardboard versions.

So far we’ve made complete trash but I’m sure we can make them work eventually.

The work in our history class is relatively controversial, contrary to popular belief of total war.

Our task in question is to study events in history around world war II and describe it in any writing style and convince the rest of the class that your event is the most important.

Bio chemistry is an interesting one.

Nothing special has been going on so far but the work is a solid standered starting point.

At the moment its all about microbes and their functions, a good introduction to a very complicated subject.

Below is my reading response to the text ‘it used to be green once’.

In the story “it used to be green once”, the main focus is on the mother, her frugalness and her embarrassing antics that her children are uncomfortable with.

Based on the way the story is read, I can tell that this story is being narrated by an older or middle child of the family based on the way she refers to herself and others throughout the text.

One of the lines that confirms her gender is when she says “The boys didn’t like having to walk home but us girls didn’t mind”.

I find it interesting that the story comes from a girls perspective and according to a few sites online girls are typically more perceptive of colors around them so it gives more edge to their attention to detail.

The mother who is spoken about a lot in the text is of course frugal and embarrassing for her own kids.

Some instances of her frugalness are like how she cuts up an adult sized swimming gear to give to two of her kids to cut costs on swimming clothes.

Another instance of this is the rotten pairs they bought, cutting out the rotten bits to give the fresher fruit and saving more on fruits.

There are a great many things the mother does that are basically not normal but are done so much that it’s basically burned into her brain, some of these behaviors being particularly hard for her kids to swallow.

My favorite part of the text is when their father gets rich because I find this to be the case everytime my parents win big on their gambling.

Although they weren’t “rich” in a materialistic sense, they did have very loving parent’s who did whatever it takes to make ends meet.

Overall I find this story completely relatable, especially being embarrassed by your parents.

Something you can learn from this text is how much work it takes to keep a whole family together especially if you’re a poor one, the mother is trying her best and that should count for everything.

Thanks for reading – Nga mihi

Future careers

During the second term of the year I discovered that I may be well suited to become a psychologist.

When I leave school I would like to undertake becoming a psychologist as i’d like to study behavior, emotions, disorders and individuals not only for myself but for those I care for.

It would give me the opportunity to learn about general behavior patterns and help those understand what they may be having when they may be in a rough patch.

Some subjects I would need to take include social studies, English, Maths, science and health education.

further requirements are a masters degree in psychology, long hours of closely supervised practice approved and evaluated and be registered with the new Zealand psychologists board.

It may be a long road but one that I’m willing to ride.

Kia Ora Ka Ako

PDF

This is a static image, these are still images that depict certain things upon an object or subject along with key words telling the viewer the main purpose of said images.

If you look at the static image above, it reads the following.

“I Want you to help poor kids, Save healthy lunches”.

I was told that this is not the main purpose of the whole healthy lunches thing but my perspective is not wrong either.

Globilization annhailation

Alright, ray ray back again with another something something, this time its just a little bit about globilazation.

Now globilazation is the process of which businesses or other orginazations develop international influence or start to operate on an international scale.

Such things have there benefits like access to new culture, lower prices on products and access to new markets, though the benefits are what people only wish there was, everything has consequences.

Such as workers losing there jobs due to other countries low cost labour or greater inequality.

thats all for now, later loves😁

Science fair project (Not really)

Hey hey, Raymond here,

I just wanted to talk a b it about my science project for the so called science fair, not that I understood how this science fair would go down but I really didn’t care about it.

For the record Mr Bignell did ask me to do a project and gave us options so I shouldn’t be blamed for a project completely on games, yes thats all I did.

I listened to different musics while playing games for weeks during term 2, it was fun.

I barely did anything at all for science class and all I had to do was make a tiny slide show, print it out and glue it all on a piece of cardboard, very minimal effort.

Mr Bignell did not like it at all because unsurprising to me almost everyone in class chose to do the music and game project, it was glorious to watch because people were costantly getting into trouble during it all so class was never quiet which I found relaxing.

So to sum it up we di basically dirt nothing over all so the lesson here is assign projects so not everybody is a lazy couch potatoe.

Hope you ejoyed the short story thanks for 😉
